The video series below are collections of original videos created by CLD&J staff with help from members of our community. They are available 24/7 whenever you want or need them. We have grouped the videos by series to make similar videos easier to find. The majority of this virtual content is intended for children. However our Revolutionary War Battles, Learn with Your Librarian series, and our Librarians Experiment series are not intended for children. Please enjoy these virtual offerings at your leisure. For more videos and virtual programs, check out our YouTube Channel.
For children of all ages. Join us for a virtual storytime hosted by Miss Jenny on Facebook Live. Enjoy books, rhymes and songs! We’ll be posting each week’s stories in the event in the days before.
Recommended for Grades 3-8, but all ages welcome. Join us for "A Chapter a Day" with Miss Jenny! Every weekday, she'll read a chapter of a children's book. Borrow the book from the library, download it from Libby or Hoopla, and read along with her.
These hands-on STEAM activities are recommended for Grades K-4. Each video provides step-by-step instructions to create a science, technology, engineering, art, or math project using materials commonly found at home.
For children of all ages. Get creative with art! Each video in this series combines unique techniques and the use of household items to create something one-of-a-kind! These programs focus on the process of creating art rather than a specific end result. This allows for children to practice independent choice and creative decision making.
In the first episode which was posted in May 2021, Author, Historian & Librarian Cheryl Pula narrates the events leading to the Battles of Saratoga and the turning point of the American Revolutionary War. In the second episode, which was posted in September 2021, Cheryl Pula narrates the events of the Battle of Oriskany, New York, one of the bloodiest battles of the Revolutionary War.
Learn with your Librarian offers CLD&J patrons the opportunity to explore the Library's vast digital resources and more! Join our librarian Kara as she teaches us how to use databases such as Ancestry and historical newspaper archives, and provides tutorials for digital resources such as Hoopla, Zoom, & Skype. If you have any suggestions for our Learn with your Librarian series, let us know!
In each episode, library staff members "experiment" with something new relating to Sustainable Making! They make soap, beet kvass, beeswax wraps, and reusable produce bags, among other things. Watch to learn something new along with us.
